Lessons in Tanya (English & Hebrew)
Lessons in Tanya is a well-lit and accessible gateway to the Tanya - the fundamental, classic work upon which all concepts of Chabad Chasidism are based. The Tanya is indispensable to an understanding of the Chasidic movement and the philosophy behind it. More importantly, it offers guidance for every facet of the day-to-day life of a Jew in his or her service to G‑d.
Lessons In Tanya takes the acute ideas and concepts of the Tanya and makes them readily accessible to the eager student, as it leads the reader through every paragraph and page, illuminating the mystical, often allusive, Talmudic, Kabbalistic, and Scriptural verses and concepts. It fills many gaps in what the terse Tanya text assumes to be the reader's background knowledge.
Each of the lectures was examined and amended by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, so that much of the material includes the Rebbe's insights and explanatory comments.

Why only for Jews? From the little I know of this book, I do still feel that the wisdom is relevant to all mankind who wish to, work for (and be) the betterment of themselves, all humanity and all that lives, yea even that which does not.
Who says it's only for Jews? But in order to get the intricate and full meaning of the mystical and spiritual content of the book it helps that you be Jewish or are studying to become one. Otherwise you might be misusing it's teaching in order to apply it to your own religious views or believes and that's not the purpose of this book.
I arrived here from a Christian culture. I tried to run from it but someone encouraged me to seek Truth in the culture to which I was born. He assured his audience that all do have roads to Truth. And here I Am...

A life changing book This is a "must to read" book for every Jew. I do believe that our modern society has failed - spiritually, morally, intelectually, emotionally - and that's why we see all those mental disorders and emptiness and the loss of values and hatred and lonliness. Progress was too quick and too extreme for people to adapt. At least some tradition and faith and humility are required to regain our long lost sanity, humanity and compassion.
Life Changing I have been studying Tanya on-line for several years now. It has been life-changing, and helps me cope with stress and challenges. It keeps me grounded in a praxis of loving-kindness.

If it is destructive, it would be because the things it would destroy are probably unsound to begin with. The push and the pull. The testing, and the refinement of metals, etc. The best gold is smelted many times, and then put through the acid test again, and again. The finest diamonds and those which have been under the highest pressure of the earth. a destroying malak does so because that's his job. Holiness is the goal. Anything that appraoched Mt. Sinai was destroyed; people not authorized, sheep, cattle...no problemo.

An amazing book, so easy to read, and it describes difficult concepts in simple terms.
A chabad Rabbi can teach you, but the changes are yours to make.
What Chabad did for me I contacted Downtown Chabad of Toronto. Today I am such a proud Jew who is close to G-D. I not only understand the holidays, I lived them. Downtown Chabad has enriched my life and made better person and I can only Thank G-D for Chabad.

I was looking for material on Tanya that would make it easier for a beginner like me to comprehend, and one of the beautiful rabbis at Chabad.org brought to my attention " The lessons in Tanya" by Rabbi Schneur Zalman Liadi elucidated by Rabbi Yosef Weinberg, by Kehot publishers. As I was scrolling down I noticed all the beautiful comments to the Tanya classes by Rabbi Gordon and the other rabbis at Chabad. I especially took to the comment made in 2012 by Rick of Chicago. He comments "Life changing. I have been studying on-line for several years now. It has been life changing, and helps me cope with stress and challenges. It keeps me grounded in a praxis of loving-kindness". What a life changer. May we all be blessed and grow from the love and desire of learning Torah, and the guidance and the love from Chabad ( love your fellow man like you love yourself) doing so much good, bringing out the best in us.
